Located in Sydney’s east, this peaceful residence involved a substantial reconstruction and addition to an existing house. In what had previously been a boxy building, the design centred around principles of bringing light and joy into the interiors. Dark timbers, Australian pink stone and bronze details were the highlights to a tight palette of materials that tied the interiors together.

Designed for a family of four, the project was also very much about celebrating the garden and providing spaces for outdoor entertainment. A timber lined canopy with circular skylights created a weatherproof terrace. Beside the kitchen, a circular banquette surrounded with curved glass extends the family table beyond the façade for an outdoor dining experience.
