This Tudor Revival house built in 1940 was in a state of disrepair and being considered for demolition when we were commissioned to explore the opportunity of retaining it and injecting it with new life. It was a monolithic house and our design proposed to open the ground floor with extensive glazing for a lighter base and greatly improved connection to the garden.
The original roof pitch was retained but the materials were changed to blue slate with copper detailing. The interiors have a warmth and richness inspired by the period of the original 1940s building; timber and brushed velvet wall panels, classic pieces of furniture and a fully upholstered attic with a picture window view across Sydney Harbour.
