This project is the creation of a new residence in an original Art Deco building on the headland of South Bondi. While retaining the bones of the building, the project involved substantial restructuring and replanning throughout for a single house.

The exterior of the building was restored and redesigned and an extra level added for the living spaces and outdoor terrace. The interiors celebrate the exuberant nature of Sydney beachside Art Deco with colour and sculptural form. In this masonry building, the way light penetrated the interiors was an over-arching design consideration; gloss ceilings, glazed ceramic tiles and curved surfaces like the central stair were designed to play with the light and colour throughout the day.
