Motel Molly

The approach to creating the revitalised Motel Molly experience was deeply inspired and embedded in its surrounding context. Rather than building something completely new and unfamiliar, we wanted to champion the hotel’s nostalgic charm and heritage as a local gathering space for the town of Mollymook.

We worked with the bones of the existing 1980s brick motel and retained the existing room and bathroom layouts – structures that were already in place, allowing the project to feel more relaxed and familiar. We developed a colour palette featuring four pastel tones across the four buildings and guest suites. Enriched with a scheme of custom-designed furniture, crafted joinery and hand-made textiles and ceramics, the interiors are fresh and contemporary within a charming coastal motel.
